Clean power mix to make up 16.5% of overall pie by 2025

BEIJING: Solar and wind power generation in China is expected to continue increasing over the next five years and eventually account for 16.5% of the country’s total power consumption by 2025, according to the National Energy Administration (NEA) in a draft plan.

Solar and wind power generation will account for 11% of the country’s total power consumption this year, up from 9.7% in 2020, as the country aims to peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, while boosting the share of non-fossil fuels in primary energy consumption to around 25% by 2030.
