At 12.30pm, the key index was up 3.02 points to 1,601.3.
However, the broader market was mostly negative with 631 decliners versus 313 gainers.
There was active trading with 3.47 billion shares traded valued at RM2.32bil.
Press Metal jumped 58 sen to RM10.60 while Top Glove gained 22 sen to RM5.35 and Hartalega rose 35 sen to RM9.82.
Supermax rallied 36 sen to RM4.96.

Meanwhile, there was selling pressure in IHH, down seven sen to RM5.33, Sime Darby Plantation falling five sen to RM4.52 and Digi dropping seven sen to RM4.22.
Top actives were LKL down one sen to 36.5 sen, Minda up 1.5 sen to 16.5 sen and Focus dropping six sen to 29 sen.
In Asian markets, tech shares were under pressure following the sell-off in Coinbase on its listing day on the New York Stock Exchange overnight, which dragged on the Nasdaq.
Japan's Nikkei kept afloat with a 0.1% gain while South Korea's Kospi rose 0.3%.
China's composite index however shed 1.2% while Hong Kong's Hang Seng dropped 1%.
Australia's ASX200 was up 0.6%.
