PETALING JAYA: MSM Malaysia Holdings Bhd is temporarily shutting down production of its MSM Sugar Refinery (Johor) Sdn Bhd refinery in Pasir Gudang, Johor, for two months, to allow for the plant’s boiler rectification following a breakdown.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, MSM said the temporary production shutdown was effective from March 31,2021, adding that the rectification will enable the plant to achieve its targeted utilisation factor by the third quarter of 2021.

“During the temporary production shutdown, the company shall utilise its available refined sugar stocks in MSM Johor and supported by the production of its second refinery at MSM Prai Berhad for supply to the domestic and export markets.

“With these measures, there will be no material impact on operations, earnings per shares and net assets per share of the company arising from the temporary production shutdown.
