PETALING JAYA: RHB Bank Bhd has appointed Tan Sri Ahmad Badri Mohamad Zahir (pic) as its new chairman effective since yesterday.

He is also the Employees Provident Fund’s chairman.

“Ahmad Badri brings with him fresh perspective and a wealth of knowledge and experience to the group.

“We look forward to his able leadership and wisdom as we continue to meet the challenges brought about by the pandemic and train our sight for continued growth, ” RHB Bank group managing director Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli said in a statement.

Ahmad Badri was previously on the boards of Bank Negara, Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan), Permodalan Nasional Bhd and Tenaga Nasional Bhd.

He was earlier appointed as non-executive director and deputy chairman on Nov 16, RHB Bank said. The new appointment follows the recent retirement of its previous chairman Tan Sri Azlan Zainol who had been with the group since 2005.

“We are most grateful for the contributions of Azlan, for his leadership and guidance in shaping RHB into what it is today, ” Khairussaleh said.
