KUALA LUMPUR: PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd (PMSVB) has appointed edotco Malaysia as the next-generation connectivity solutions provider for Merdeka 118 tower, which is set to be the tallest building in South-East Asia upon completion in 2022.

PMSVB is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB).

The company said edotco Malaysia would design, provide and maintain build-to-suit in-building telecommunications solutions (IBS), enabling seamless and reliable connectivity for the iconic tower.

“Equipping the tower with the next-generation IBS technology ensures greater coverage in blind spots such as lifts as well as the basement, creating an enhanced user experience, ” it said in a statement.

It said antennae, repeaters and other next-generation IBS would be installed within the premises to meet capacity demands and provide extensive coverage at every level of the tower, in preparation for future hyper connectivity.

PNB chief investment officer of real estate Rick Ramli said the appointment marked an integral part of Merdeka 118’s progress as it moved closer to completion. The 635-metre tower has reached 70% completion to-date.

“We look forward to embarking on the next phase of powering up Merdeka 118 with next-generation connectivity technologies to support future communication needs.

“We are confident that the technical expertise and innovative solutions will be able to cater to the dynamic needs of business and leisure occupants, ” he said.

Services by edotco would include telecommunication infrastructure for the office, hotel tower and retail mall. — Bernama
