Permai Prihatin Special Grant receives additional injection of RM150mil

KUALA LUMPUR: Permai Prihatin Special Grant (GKP Permai ) will receive an additional injection of RM150mil, making the total RM800mil, Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said.

“Due to the expansion of the MCO (movement control order) to over almost the entire country except Sarawak, GKP PERMAI will receive an additional injection of RM150mil, making the total RM800mil,” he said in the 38th Implementation and Coordination Unit Between National Agencies (LAKSANA) Report.

“For micro SMEs that have received GKP before, they are not required to register again, and the RM1,000 assistance will be credited straight into their accounts,” he explained.

The Government has channelled some RM2.55bil to micro SMEs through the GKP and GKP 2.0 programmes.

“With GKP PERMAI, the total allocation that will be channelled to the public is RM3.55bil just through GKP alone,” Zafrul said.

Meanwhile, he said distribution of Bantuan Prihatin Nasional 2.0 (BPN 2.0) phase two with a value of RM2.38bil has begun since Jan 21.

“I hope the recipients can be patient as this is a huge sum, and requires at least one week to be fully credited to the recipients,” he said.

He explained that 6.4 million accounts have been credited from Jan 21-24, 2021.

From Jan 25-29, 2021, 3.8 million accounts have been or are being credited.

Around 750,000 recipients without bank accounts have begun cash collection in BSN branches in Peninsular Malaysia for B40 and M40 recipients from Jan 25.

“The Government hopes that the expedited assistance will provide some cash flow relief for 11.06 million single and household recipients during this MCO period,” he said.

The new application for Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat (BPR) Phase One has commenced, until Feb 15 through

“It is hoped that this assistance will benefit more than 8 million B40 recipients under BPN 2.0 and Bantuan Sara Hidup 2020 (BSH 2020), as well as those whose applications are approved later,” Zafrul.

The BPR was expedited from May to end-February.
