New president for CIMB Thai

PETALING JAYA: CIMB Group has appointed Paul Wong Chee Kin (pic below) as President/CEO of CIMB Thai, effective Feb 1,2021, according to a statement from the group.

He succeeds Sutee Losoponkul, who was acting president & CEO since September 2020 following the departure of the previous CEO, Adisorn Sermchaiwong.

Sutee will remain with CIMB Thai as adviser to the president & CEO up to Dec 31,2021. The appointments have received approval from the Bank of Thailand.

Wong is currently CIMB’s group chief operations officer, overseeing activities across functions in the areas of payments and digitalisation as well as strategy, customer delivery and process improvements.

Wong has more than 25 years of experience in banking and finance in Asean.

He started his career with the CIMB Group in 2007 and had postings to the Philippines and Singapore.
