Significant improvement in repayment rate


According to S&P Ratings, the third-quarter earnings of major banks show early indications that they are exercising caution. “Repayment rates for major banks’ retail as well as small and medium enterprise (SME) portfolios significantly improved since October, based on third quarter disclosures."

PETALING JAYA: While Malaysian banks are demonstrating resilient credit portfolios as they progress from the six-month loan moratorium period, the underlying strength of affected borrowers remains to be seen and the initial recovery of repayments could prove fragile.
