Higher oil prices, demand help boost Petron earnings in Q3

“As Petron continued to implement cost-saving measures, it posted a RM98mil net income for the third quarter, significantly reducing its RM153mil net loss in the first half to RM55mil for the nine-month period, ” it said.

PETALING JAYA: Petron Malaysia Refining and Marketing Bhd’s net profit for its third quarter ended Sept 30,2020 jumped more than 180% to RM97.64mil from RM34.42mil in the previous corresponding period, boosted by the upturn in oil prices and demand.

The company said it sold 7.7 million barrels during the third quarter, a 28% improvement from the previous quarter as the government eased its restrictions on business activities and mobility through the implementation of a more relaxed recovery movement control order.
