Gloves, Petronas Gas give KLCI a boost


KUALA LUMPUR: Glove makers and Petronas Gas gave the FBM KLCI a much-needed boost on Friday as investor sentiment perked up on some buying interest.

At 5pm, the KLCI was up 10.07 points or 0.64% to 1,593.75. Turnover was nine billion shares valued at RM5.15bil. The broader market was firmer with 690 gainers, 504 losers and 446 counters unchanged.

Top Glove rose 35 sen to RM7.29, Supermax 32 sen to RM8.08 and Hartalega 30 sen to RM14.40.

Petronas Gas advanced 44 sen to RM16.76 and strong earnings growth.

Scientex was up 74 sen to RM12.50, Time dotCom 48 sen to RM13.90, Euro 37 sen to RM3.87 while MPI gained 36 sen to RM23.30 and Petron 33 sen to RM3.79.

Renewable energy (RE) solutions provider Samaiden advanced 25 sen to RM1.50 in active trade and prompted a query from Bursa Securities.

MR DIY rose to a high of RM2.49 before easing to RM2.33 at the close, up 15 sen.

Among the plantations, PPB Group was the top loser, down 40 sen to RM18.08.

Vivocom fell 18 sen to RM1.74 with 68.2 million shares done.
