BToto reports better Q1 earnings on lower prize payouts

KUALA LUMPUR: Berjaya Sports Toto Bhd reported improved earnings on lower revenue in the first quarter ended Sept 30 due to lower prize payout and reduced operating expenses.

Net profit stood at RM67.8mil compared with RM67mil a year ago, it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

The company has declared a interim dividend of 4 sen a share, matching last year's same quarter payout.

BToto said it is cautiously optimistic that the Group's businesses will gradually recover with the fairly resilient nature of the NFO business as noted in the past economic crises and turbulent periods.

"The Directors are also confident that it will continue to maintain its market share in the NFO business for the remaining quarters of the financial year ending 30 June 2021," it said.
