Global sales of computer chips up 4.5%


“China stood out during the month as it recorded marked acceleration in growth of 7.9% month and 6.5% on-year versus August 2020’s of 2.9% month-on-month and 3.0% on-year, ” it said.

KUALA LUMPUR: Global sales of semiconductors rose 4.5% to US$37.9bil in September from August and were 5.8% higher from a year ago, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), painting a positive outlook for the chip sector.

According to a report posted on its website over the weekend, the US-based trade body said sales into the Americas remained strong in September.
