TOKYO: Japan's industrial output rose 4.0% in September from the previous month, government data showed on Friday, as factory activity extended its rebound after being hit by the COVID-19 crisis earlier this year.

Output rose for the fourth straight month and compared with a median forecast for a 3.2% increase in a Reuters poll, the data showed.

Manufacturers surveyed by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry expect output to increase 4.5% in October and advance 1.2% in November, the data showed.
