PETALING JAYA: GDB Holdings Bhd’s unit Grand Dynamic Builders Sdn Bhd has secured a RM1.25bil contract to complete the remaining building works for the iconic 8 Conlay mixed-development in Jalan Conlay, Kuala Lumpur.
8 Conlay will own the world’s tallest twisted twin residential towers and the first and only Kempinski Hotel in Malaysia.
The contract, which is the single-largest secured by GDB, is for a duration of 32 months and is expected to contribute positively towards the future earnings of group.
It said in a statement that Grand Dynamic Builders has executed a letter of intent with KSK Land Sdn Bhd subsidiary Damai City Sdn Bhd to appoint GDB as the main contractor of the works.
The contract win brings the group’s total outstanding order book to about RM2.27bil, which will be recognised until the financial year ending Dec 31,2023.
“This LOI for 8 Conlay is the pinnacle in our portfolio, in light of the project’s iconic luxury and ambitious endeavour in the city centre.
“These three high-rise blocks will be the tallest towers that we participate in, and would showcase our extensive capabilities in carrying out technically-challenging undertakings, ” said GDB group managing director Cheah Ham Cheia.
Meanwhile, KSK Land group chief executive officer and managing director Joanne Kua said with GDB coming on board as its main contractor, it would emphasise KSK Land’s commitment to completing 8 Conlay at the highest standard of quality and in a timely manner, despite the current challenging times.
‘GDB has the prerequisite track records and the technical expertise to execute this project, which will position 8 Conlay to be a landmark of design, innovation and collaboration in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, ” said Kua.
Situated between the prestigious KLCC area and the bustling Golden Triangle, 8 Conlay consists of three towers, atop a four-storey experiential retail space.
