Tax holiday extension may drive car sales further

Kenanga Research said the new volume-driven launches in the final quarter of this year, such as the Proton X50, City and Almera, could offset the cautious consumer sentiment affected by both the recently implemented conditional movement control order, as well as the end of the loan moratorium last month.

MIDF Research, in a report yesterday, said that extending the tax holiday, which is scheduled to end on Dec 31, will spur car sales.
