More property mergers?


The market has just seen UEM Sunrise Bhd proposing a merger with Eco World Public Investment Bank Research opined that the proposed merger between UEM Sunrise and Eco World was not surprising given current challenging property market conditions. adding that sector consolidation is ripe to happen to strengthen market positioning.

PETALING JAYA: Property developers have been playing in a rather rocky environment in recent years with sectoral issues plaguing the market even before the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) struck.

The overhang has been nothing but on the rise and while many expect the low interest rate environment to spur the take-up rate, experts would beg to differ judging by how the pandemic trampled the economy.
