Chakrabarty is Media Specialists Association president


Chakrabarty, who is CEO of GroupM Malaysia, said: “It’s an honour and also an enormous responsibility to be elected as the president representative of the media industry of the country, especially so during such unprecedented and difficult times for the industry and economy at large."

PETALING JAYA: The Media Specialists Association (MSA) has announced Chanchal Chakrabarty as its president and Darren Yuen of Initiative Media as its vice-president at the association’s recent AGM.

Yuen is the CEO of Initiative and BPN.

Chakrabarty, who is CEO of GroupM Malaysia, said: “It’s an honour and also an enormous responsibility to be elected as the president representative of the media industry of the country, especially so during such unprecedented and difficult times for the industry and economy at large.

“The pandemic has further underscored the importance of our collective thinking and the heightened role that we can play as an industry. We as the elected representatives would strive to do our best to further the interests of the marketing communications industry by leading our association to be more diverse and future-ready as we emerge into the post-Covid path to recovery.We would like to extend our appreciation to Yap Chee Weng for his leadership in the last two terms as president.”

Other Association office bearers are Vanitha Selvathurai (secretary/Carat Media Services) and Wong Pi Yee (treasurer/Starcom Mediavest Group).

The Council is represented by Bluedale Integrated, Dentsu X Malaysia, m/Six, MediaEdge; CIA, Mindshare Malaysia, Unity Communications Malaysia, Universal McCann and Vizeum Media Services.

The MSA aims to help and support those agencies that specialise in providing media research, strategic planning, media negotiation and placement services.
