Bank Negara foreign reserves rise to US$104.8bil

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara's international reserves rose by US$400mil to US$104.8bil on Sept 15 from two weeks earlier.

The central bank said in a statement on Wednesday that the reserves position was sufficient to finance 8.7 months of retained imports and was 1.1 times total short-term external debt.

The main components of the international reserves comprised foreign currency reserves at US$96.3bil, International Monetary Fund reserves position (US$1.3bil), Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) (US$1.1bil), gold (US$2.2bil) and other reserve assets (US$3.9bil).
