Smoother now for O&G, but tough times not over

Brent crude futures

PETALING JAYA: While crude oil prices remain volatile, the worst appears to be over for the oil and gas sector which is rebalancing itself from the Covid-19 fallout that saw a collapse in demand.

However, local oil and gas service providers are in for some tough times with fewer jobs envisaged and analysts saying activities in Malaysian waters are unlikely to go back to pre-pandemic levels for the next 12 to 18 months, especially with the capital expenditure (capex) cut by national oil company Petronas.
