SEOUL: South Korea's manufacturing activity shrank at the slowest pace in six months in August as global demand gradually improved after the easing of coronavirus lockdowns, but a resurgence in domestic infections could threaten the recovery.
The IHS Markit purchasing managers' index (PMI) rose to 48.5 in August from 46.9 in July, the highest reading since February, but still below the 50-mark threshold that separates growth from contraction for an eighth straight month.
