KUALA LUMPUR: Long-term business partners Sime Darby Bhd and Icon Offshore Bhd have teamed up for a new pilot project to deploy Malaysia’s first remote-monitoring system for vessel preventive maintenance.

The Caterpillar-developed Remote Fleet Vision (RFV) system will be tested on one of Icon’s vessels, namely the Icon Zara. With the new system, Icon expects to minimise operational costs and improve the efficiency of the vessel by reducing the reliance on labour.
