KUALA LUMPUR: Prasarana Malaysia Bhd says it will miss its target of positive earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) for 2021 as it expects to incur losses of between RM200mil and RM500mil this year.

However, the losses will not be as high as in 2018, its president and group chief executive officer Muhammad Nizam Alias said, adding that the company posted more than RM200mil in losses during the first half of 2020.

“We’re working very hard to cushion the impact by getting more people to use public transport because our revenue depends on ridership. For the time being, we’re already operating at about 60%, so we’ve another 40% to go in terms of capacity, ” he said. — Bernama
