Bank Negara foreign reserves rise to US$104.2bil as at July 30

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara's international reserves rose US$200mil to US$104.2bil as at July 30, 2020 from two weeks earlier.

The central bank said in a statement today that the reserves position is sufficient to finance 8.4 months of retained imports and is 1.1 times total short-term external debt.

The main components of the international reserves comprised foreign currency reserves (US$97.2bil), International Monetary Fund reserves position (US$1.3bil), Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) (US$1.1bil), gold (US$2.2bil) and other reserve assets (US$2.4bil).
