PETALING JAYA: Banking stocks were generally lower yesterday, following the government’s decision to end the blanket loan moratorium in September as investors worry about potentially higher loan loss provisions to be incurred by lenders.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that the blanket loan moratorium will be replaced by a targeted moratorium for individuals who have lost their jobs and who have yet to find new jobs.
