AN extension of the loan moratorium could have a negative impact on future lending with bankers saying it could lead to a degradation of the capital ratios of financial institutions.
The loan moratorium, which will conclude at the end of September, can lead to banks being hesitant to lend should their financial strength be whittled away from an erosion in the capital ratio of the sector if a blanket moratorium is allowed to continue for months.
