Bank Negara foreign reserves rise to US$103.4bil as at June 30

KUALA LUMPUR: The international reserves of Bank Negara rose US$600mil over a two-week period to US$103.4bil as at June 30, 2020.

According to Bank Negara, the reserves position is sufficient to finance 8.3 months of retained imports and is 1.1 times total short-term external debt.

The main components of the international reserves comprised foreign currency reserves at US$96.6bil, International Monetary Fund reserves position (US$1.3bil), Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) (US$1.1bil), gold (US$2.2bil) and other reserve assets (US$2.2bil).
