Global semicon sales higher in May but uncertainties remain

SIA president and CEO John Neuffer said the global semiconductor market in May remained largely resistant to the widespread economic disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

KUALA LUMPUR: Worldwide sales of semiconductors were rose by 5.8% to US$35bil in May 2020, which were higher on-year and on-month but the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) remained cautious for the months ahead.

The US-based trade body stated May semicon sales rose from US$33bil a year ago and were also higher by 1.5% from April's US$34.4bil.
