PNB appoints Ahmad Zulqarnain as new CEO

PNB said up until recently, Ahmad Zulquarnain was the deputy managing director of Khazanah Nasional Bhd.

PETALING JAYA: Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn has been appointed as the president and group chief executive of Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) with effect from July 1.

PNB said up until recently, he was the deputy managing director of Khazanah Nasional Bhd.

He was appointed as one of the two deputy managing directors in 2018, in charge of the strategic fund and managing the sovereign fund’s strategic holdings in government-linked companies (GLCs).

In addition, Ahmad Zulqarnain headed the corporate strategy team in Khazanah.

“Ahmad Zulqarnain brings with him more than 23 years of experience in financial services and corporate sector, ” it said.

PNB said it had received all the relevant regulatory approvals for the appointment of the new president and group chief executive, including from Yayasan Pelaburan Bumiputra, the PNB board and the regulatory authorities.

PNB has assets under management (AUM) exceeding RM300bil.
