Allianz segments’ growth outpaces industry in first quarter

Allianz CEO Zakri Khir said the group managed to stay resilient despite the challenges. “We saw increased top line in gross written premiums, thanks to our higher gross earned premiums and investment income while pre-tax profit dipped due to lower profits from our general and life insurance segments.”

PETALING JAYA: Allianz Malaysia Bhd’s general insurance and life insurance segments both saw its growth outpacing the industry for the first quarter ended March 31,2020.

In its filings with Bursa Malaysia, the company said its general insurance segment recorded gross written premium growth of 12.3%, outperforming Malaysia’s general insurance industry growth of 0.9% during the first three months of the year.

Its life insurance segment annualised new business, on the other hand, grew by 2.3%, outperforming the industry’s growth of 0.7%.
