AirAsia shares up on news of stake sale


At 5pm yesterday, the AirAsia stock closed 3.5 sen higher to 86 sen with 175 million shares traded, making it the seventh most-actively traded stock of the day.

PETALING JAYA: Shares of AirAsia Group Bhd ended higher on news that it is in talks to sell a 10% stake to South Korea’s SK Corp.

At 5pm yesterday, the stock closed 3.5 sen higher to 86 sen with 175 million shares traded, making it the seventh most-actively traded stock of the day.

It was reported that AirAsia would be selling 10% of its shares to SK Corp, South Korea’s third largest conglomerate, at RM1 a share via a private placement.

Should the deal materialises, AirAsia will raise an estimated RM334.2mil from the placement of new shares.
