GDP outlook depends on consumer, business confidence


AmBank's Anthony Dass (pic) says the outlook of the leading indicator will depend much on how both the consumer and business confidence are restored.

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian economy will face a sharp slowdown in the near future, warned AmBank Group chief economist Anthony Dass.

This was because the biggest impact of the Movement Control Order (MCO) will be felt in the second quarter of 2020 (2Q20), even as the economy has been gradually re-opened thanks to the current conditional MCO.
