Bank Negara international reserves rise to US$102.6bil as at May 15

KUALA LUMPUR: The international reserves of Bank Negara Malaysia rose US$100mil over a two-week period to US$102.6bil as at May 15, 2020.

According to Bank Negara, the reserves position is sufficient to finance 8.1 months of retained imports and is 1.1 times total short-term external debt.

The main components of the international reserves comprised foreign currency reserves at US$102.6bil, International Monetary Fund reserves position (US$1.2bil), Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) (US$1.1bil), gold (US$2bil) and other reserve assets (US$3.2bil).
