Upgrading works to dominate construction jobs


Besides focusing on large infrastructure projects that have greater spillover impact on the economy, BIMB expects the government to also focus on “smallish jobs” to boost the construction sector.“We expect smallish basic infrastructure projects such as road upgrading, hospital, water, sewerage and rural area development projects to be rolled out by the government this year."

PETALING JAYA: The construction sector offers little earnings prospects for investors amid the headwinds ahead. Therefore, investors should cherry-pick within the sector, BIMB Securities said in a report.

“We expect a further delay in the Penang Transport Master Plan, as we believe funding the RM46bil project is still the main stumbling block, ” it told clients.
