THE oil market’s reaction to a gradual easing of lockdowns in several countries has been so enthusiastic that it could almost lead to a misperception that the carnage witnessed since late January was nothing more than a bad dream, and all was well again.
After dipping below $20/barrel in the third week of April, the July Brent futures contract has traced its way up to the $30/barrel level since late April.
