Genting gets prison assistance to sew personal protective equipment

Good cause: A Bentong prison inmate sewing PPE with materials provided by Genting.

KUANTAN: Genting Malaysia Bhd worked with the Bentong prison to produce personal protective equipment (PPE).

Seeing that hospitals and government clinics in Pahang are facing a shortage of PPE, Genting purchased non-woven materials and the prison authorities assigned the inmates to cut and sew protective gowns and head and boot covers for Covid-19 frontliners in Bentong and Temerloh.

The prison also passed pre-cut materials to the local chapters of Girl Guides, Kemas and Puspanita as well as the Bentong Community College to sew the PPE.

A total of 3,500 sets of PPE were given to the Bentong district health office for distribution to Bentong Hospital, government clinics in the district, Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah in Temerloh and, quarantine centres at the Housing and Local Government Training Institute in Bukit Tinggi and Aminuddin Baki Institute in Genting Highlands. In appreciation of the Bentong Prison inmates effort in making the PPE, Genting presented them with hampers of food items.
