Boustead makes Khaled non-executive chairman


Khaled, 61, previously served as the 15th Mentri Besar of Johor from 2013 to 2018. Under his five-year leadership, Johor witnessed a steady growth in its economy, with the state’s gross domestic product standing at RM100bil.

KUALA LUMPUR: Boustead Holdings Bhd has announced the appointment of Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin as the company’s non-independent non-executive chairman effective May 1.

Khaled, 61, previously served as the 15th Mentri Besar of Johor from 2013 to 2018. Under his five-year leadership, Johor witnessed a steady growth in its economy, with the state’s gross domestic product standing at RM100bil.

From 2013 to 2017, Johor was also the leading investment destination in the country with the entry of RM114.9bil worth of investments in the manufacturing sector alone.

He also served as the chairman of Johor Corp Bhd (JCorp), and on the boards of companies within the JCorp group.

Prior to that, Khaled was the higher education minister from 2008 to 2013. He also served as the entrepreneur and cooperatives development minister from 2004 to 2008. In addition, from 1990 to 2004, he served the nation as deputy works minister.
