KUALA LUMPUR: Unisem (M) Bhd made a RM2.8mil loss in the the first quarter ended March 31 as revenue declined almost 10% to RM273mil.
The group, in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, said its performance was affected by the lower contribution from its facility in Batam, Indonesia, which has ceased operations on March 31.
Meanwhile, the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) since March 18 also resulted in lower production volume at its plant in Ipoh, Perak.
"At Unisem, the management has implemented measures to control costs, capex and streamlined its operations to mitigate the adverse consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic," it said.
"The directors expect the operating environment of the Group for 2020 to be challenging."
