Keeping an innovative mindset throughout his entrepreneurship journey

INNOVATION has always been the key for businesses to stand out from its competitors.

Despite recent challenges from the movement control order, MyeongDong Topokki (MDT) chief executive officer Vincent Lua has always kept in mind to invent new creations, making sure business operations stay alive and thriving.

During the MCO period, many customers are opting for food delivery to their doorsteps, which means a rise towards online food orders and delivery services.

With that in mind, he came up with the first MDT Cloud Kitchen that provides no dine-in facility with an online order service. Despite the shift in customer preference, the first MDT Cloud Kitchen received momentous feedback from its customers.

As it is not feasible for many to only rely on food delivery during the 28 days of MCO, most Malaysians have started to cook their own meals.

But coming up with ideas for three meals a day can be a bit of a headache. Tapping on the opportunity of self-cooking, Lua then came up with a unique idea that offers an even easier way for customers to cook for themselves.

The plan is to launch MDT Apron, as Lua believes it is the right time, considering the current food trend.

MDT Apron’s three-day meal subscription is available for delivery across Peninsular Malaysia.

Compared to the past, customer’s preference have changed tremendously towards healthy eating. This is why cooking at home with pre-packed ingredients allow customers to customise the food to their own liking.

With this plan, customers will be provided with a sufficient amount of ingredients to cook the dish, to minimise wastage.

This new concept provides three-day simple recipes that allow everyone to cook Korean cuisines from the comfort of your own home. The pre-packed ingredients which comes with a set of easy recipes are prepared at MDT’s halal certified food processing centre. With MDT Apron, you don’t even need to be an expert in cooking and it is available for delivery across Peninsular Malaysia.

Lua, a former banker who started his entrepreneur journey in 2014, was inspired to venture into the Korean gastronomy business since his first visit to MyeongDong Street in Seoul five years ago.

Since then, Lua decided to travel through Seoul to discover the attractive display and taste of MyeongDong street foods and to explore the essence of other Korean street food.

He began searching for a five-star chef, who would help him research further on MyeongDong’s street foods.

When he successfully bagged the ideation and essence of MyeongDong street food’s authentic flavour, he flew back home to start on his first Korean fast-casual dining concept restaurant that caters to millennial’s spending habits and lifestyle.
