PETALING JAYA: Indonesia will be a key market for UEM Edgenta Bhd over the next two years as the group aims to grow its healthcare support and infrastructure services segment there.
The company, which already has a presence in Indonesia, is in the process of talking to highway operators, partners and authorities in Indonesia as it seeks more business opportunities.
UEM Edgenta managing director and CEO Datuk Azmir Merican said that there are no growth target numbers for Indonesia at present.
He explained that the same solutions UEM Edgenta develops and deploys in Malaysia, can be sold to clients abroad.
“We are able to customise our solutions for customers in different countries and leave the execution to the locals.
“Currently, our Indonesian operations contribute less than RM50mil to total group revenue.
“We have been doing business in Indonesia for the last four years, with the latest job secured being RM182mil in maintenance of Cikampek-Palimanan Highway.
“We see a growth opportunity there given the attractive population size, and believe we can participate in more jobs, ” he said in what would possibly be his last media engagement before departing to Sime Darby Property to serve as its managing director on April 22.
While UEM Edgenta does not have any developments on merger and acquisition plans at present, the group is on the lookout for opportunities that will help with regional expansion and provide strong growth.
As of Dec 31,2019, UEM Edgenta has work in hand amounting to RM13.2bil, which provides earnings visibility up until 2038.
