KUALA LUMPUR: Tanjung Offshore Services Sdn Bhd and its partner VME Process Systems Malaysia Sdn Bhd have received a contract from Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd for a mobile offshore production unit (MOPU).

T7 GLOBAL BHD said on Thursday that its unit Tanjung Offshore and VME received a letter of award dated Jan 30 to provide, operate and maintain the MOPU for the Bayan redevelopment project gas phase two.

It added the time charter period was 10 years while the value of the contract was not revealed.

The Bayan field is a producing oil field located in the sub-block 4Q-21 of Balingian Province, offshore Bintulu.

Petronas Carigali is further developing phase two by using a MOPU to facilitate gas separation, gas processing and export to Malaysia liquefied natural gas manufacturers.

The MOPU will be connected to an existing facility in the Bayan field.

T7 Global said throughout the years, Tanjung Offshore has established its track record and expertise to undertake and execute similar projects.

It expected the contract to contribute positively towards the earnings and net assets per share of the company for the financial year ending Dec 31,2020.

To recap, in 2005, Tanjung Offshore Services won a contract for the provision and supply of MOPU for Cendor Field Development Project which was a jack-up drilling rig converted into an oil and gas platform and supported by a floating,

storage and offloading vessel for Petrofac (Malaysia PM-304) Limited, which is involved in marginal oilfield drilling work off the coast of Terengganu.

T7 Global chairman Datuk Seri Nik Norzrul Thani Nik Hassan Thani said: “We are very proud to have been awarded with this MOPU contract, marking a remarkable milestone achieved by T7 Global as this is a full-fledged EPCIC newbuild MOPU job secured by the group.”

Its group chief operating officer Tan Kay Zhuin said, “This is our second MOPU contract after the award of Cendor MOPU in 2005 which the work scopes also involves EPCIC, operation and maintenance. Tanjung Offshore Services is one of the pioneer in providing MOPU services in this region.”
