Higher postage rates for businesses from Feb 1

According to Pos Malaysia group chief executive officer Syed Md Najib(pic), the new postage rates will allow the company to better support its cost to serve over nine million addresses nationwide.

PETALING JAYA: Businesses will have to pay more for Pos Malaysia Bhd’s several postal services beginning Feb 1, after the government allowed the company to revise its rates for the first time since 2010.

With the increase in commercial postage rates ranging between 9.1% and 300%, financial institutions will be most affected as they represent about 71% of Pos Malaysia’s mail users.

This is followed by broadcast entities (11%), telcos (8%) and the retail sector (5%).

Individuals only make up 5% of Pos Malaysia’s mail users.
