Takaful shares fall 10% on service expiry news


PETALING JAYA: Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Keluarga Bhd (Takaful Malaysia) lost nearly half a billion ringgit in market value and suffered two rating downgrades in a single day, after RHB Islamic Bank Bhd said it will end its Bancatakaful service arrangement with Takaful Malaysia.

The Islamic insurance provider, which is 59%-owned by BIMB Holdings Bhd, emerged as the third biggest loser on Bursa Malaysia as its share price tumbled to the lowest level in nearly nine months.
