Bursa Malaysia ends 2019 on downbeat note


Year-to-date, the KLCI was down 6.02% or 101.82 points and making it the worst performing stock market. The KLCI's market capitalisation was reduced to RM1.04 trillion.

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia ended a volatile 2019 on a downbeat note on Tuesday as late selling of Public Bank, IHH Healthcare and Tenaga Nasional sent the FBM KLCI skidding more than 1.67% on the day.

At 5pm, the KLCI was down 26.91 points to 1,588.76 – which was the day's low – as selling accelerated in late afternoon when European markets opened. Of the 30 stocks in the KLCI, 28 were in the red and two were unchanged.
