Record-setting markets rally resumes as Mnuchin says trade deal to be signed(Update)


The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 137.68 points, or 0.49%, to 28,376.96, the S&P 500 gained 14.23 points, or 0.45%, to 3,205.37 and the Nasdaq Composite added 59.48 points, or 0.67%, to 8,887.22

NEW YORK: Wall Street's major indexes resumed their rally with fresh records on Thursday as U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said an initial U.S.-China trade deal would be signed in early January.

The benchmark S&P 500 hit a sixth straight all-time high, its longest streak since January 2018, and the Nasdaq ended with gains for the seventh session in a row. The S&P 500, Nasdaq and the Dow Jones Industrial Average all notched record closing highs.
