KLCI surges to close above 1,600


KUALA LUMPUR: Strong fund buying of Petronas Chemicals, Petronas Gas and Tenaga Nasional powered the FBM KLCI above the critical 1,600 level on Friday, the third day of strong fund buying this week.

At 5pm, the KLCI was up 14.17 points or 0.89% to 1,610.18 – boosted by late buying interest. Turnover was 2.17 billion shares valued at RM2.38bil. There were 414 gainers, 387 losers and 387 counters also unchanged.
