BOSTON: John Kapoor, the Insys Therapeutics Inc founder and former CEO convicted of a plot in which doctors were bribed to prescribe the company’s powerful opioid painkiller Subsys, should serve 15 years in prison, federal prosecutors said.

Four other ex-Insys executives who were convicted of racketeering conspiracy along with Kapoor should serve prison terms ranging from five to 11 years, the US said in a court filing. Kapoor, 76, was the first chief executive officer convicted in a federal opioid trial.
