LONDON: The pound soared after Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Conservative Party won a majority in the U.K.’s general election, raising hopes that an end to the Brexit deadlock will unlock pent-up investment flows.
Sterling jumped as much as 2.7% against the dollar, the biggest intraday gain since April 2017. It advanced to the strongest level versus the euro since just after the 2016 Brexit vote.
