TNB Q3 net profit jumps 140% to RM1.2bil

KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Nasional Bhd’s (TNB) net profit jumped 140.1% to RM1.2bil in the third quarter ended Sept 30, against RM501mil in the same period a year ago mainly due to lower operating expenses.

The utility giant reported higher operating profit of RM2.27bil in the current quarter as compared to RM2.07bil in the preceding quarter, an increase of RM206.1mil. The group attributed the higher operating profit to lower operating expenses of RM293.3mil, mainly due to lower generation costs reported in the current quarter under review.
