TSMC’s revenue outlook beats thanks to solid iPhone demand

BEIJING: Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., the primary chip supplier to Apple Inc., projected current-quarter revenue ahead of analysts’ estimates after the latest iPhones proved a hit with consumers.

The world’s largest contract chipmaker foresees revenue of $10.2 billion to $10.3 billion in the December quarter, surpassing an average projection for about $9.9 billion. TSMC gave that sales outlook after reporting net income of NT$101.1 billion ($3.3 billion) for the September quarter, handily beating estimates as the global chip market recovers.
