KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's industrial production index (IPI) rose by 1.9% in August from a year ago, slightly lower than a Bloomberg survey of a 2% growth, according to the Statistics Department.
Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said on Friday the growth in August 2019 was driven by the increase in the index of manufacturing (3.7%) and electricity (0.3%). However, the index of mining fell by 3.9%.
